On Sept. 26, 2026, the USA Swimming House of Delegates adopted R-6, effective immediately. Swimmers at non-championship open-water meets can now race in wetsuits that meet World Aquatics rule 6.9 even if the suit is missing from the approved list. But Zone Championships and national-qualifying meets still require a listed wetsuit, so check the meet announcement before you buy.
