UIL removed the waiver that let foreign exchange students play varsity athletics in Texas. Effective August 1, 2026, those students can still play at the sub-varsity level, junior varsity and below, but not varsity. If your district plays host to exchange students, this is why a roster looks different this fall than it did last year.
