NFHS approved a rule change for shot put and discus: warmup throws can no longer be made backward or over the head from the toe board. All warmups must now face the sector from inside the circle, same as competition throws, so nobody is throwing blind. It takes effect with the 2027 outdoor season, not this spring, but throwing coaches may start teaching the new form now.
