NFHS gave goalkeepers eight seconds to release the ball this season, up from six. Holding it longer now costs a corner kick instead of an indirect free kick. Goalkeepers now get a warning instead of a caution the first time they encroach on a penalty kick, and no player can wear an audio or video recording device during a match.
