A 2024 California law (SB 1248) required every school to have a written heat-safety plan by July 1, 2026: monitor forecasts, name an indoor alternative, train staff on heat stress signs. It followed a 12-year-old's heat-related death during PE in 2023, and no federal version exists. Ask your league if a written plan exists before the next heat wave.
